Honey Bee Day at the Market

The Cooperstown Farmers’ Market will celebrate National Honey Bee Day on Saturday, August 20, 9 am to 2 pm. Along with 30 farmers, artisans, and food producers, the Market will feature free honey tastings and pairings, special honey-themed products, and a honey-themed gift basket raffle. An education table will feature an observation hive and information about the life cycle of a honey bee.

  • Pollinator Plants from ARK Floral and Girasole Farms

  • Pollinator Bouquets from Art Farm Flowers

  • Handmade Ceramic Honey Jars from Terracotta Republic

  • Hand Knit Wool Bees and Fingerless Gloves from Mimikis/Dutchayr Fibers

  • Handmade Glass Garden Bees from Crystal’s Customs

  • Locally pollinated produce from Heller’s Farm, Lapps Produce, Gaia's Breath Farm, Nectar Hills Farm, and Rock Hill Farm.

  “I am happy that the Market can honor the amazing honey bee and recognize its importance in our local food system, as well celebrate all the beautiful and delicious products that bees provide," says Karrie Larsson, Market Manager at Otsego 2000, which started the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market in 1991.

A Raffle Basket will feature including a beeswax candle from L’ouvriere, native pollinator plants from Girasole Farms, local honey from Straight form the Hive, and other honey themed items from the Market. Tickets are $5. All proceeds go to support the Farmers’ Market.

Jack Cooper will perform on the Market Stage from 10 am to noon.

Located at 101 Main Street in Pioneer Alley, the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market is open on Saturdays throughout the year. Saturday hours are 9 am - 2 pm, May through December, and 10 am – 2 pm January through April. In addition, during July, August, and September, the Market is open on Tuesdays from 12 pm – 5 pm. SNAP/EBT is welcome at every Market. With the support of the Cooperstown Lions Club, the Market offers SNAP Match, providing up to $15 in matching funds when customers shop with SNAP.
